Now open in Leaside Village! Against the Grain Urban Tavern is now bringing Urban Chic to Leaside! This stunning new location is set in the heart of Leaside Village. The Urban Tavern is perfectly situated in the new development at 87 Laird Avenue, allowing you to relax and enjoy the spectacular hospitality of Against the Grain close to home. Against the Grain is a casual Urban Tavern where people gather to enjoy Maple Chipotle Baked Wings with a local brew, Pulled Pork braised in dark beer and molasses, Stone Baked Flatbreads or traditional cocktails with a twist. All served in a sophisticated presentation and service. Unique local and European brews are tapped regularly along with interesting new and old world wines. Of course we can’t forget the cocktails including our own signature “Against the Grain” made with Canadian whiskey. The décor boasts rough fir wood, leather banquettes and metal accents throughout the entire restaurant and a warm dark wood bar with antique metal accents. A wood-granite countertop adds to the already comforting atmosphere of Against the Grain. The bar area, with communal high-top and banquette seating is warmed by a beautiful staircase to a second floor for additional seating and group events. There is a walkout to an outside bar with patio fireplaces and cushioned seating all surrounded by Urban gardens. The second floor, with its own conversation shaped bar opens up into a comfortable roof top patio warmed with a large fireplace and overlooking the Leaside community. On the roof, patio heaters and comfortable seating are sheltered by beautiful Toucci umbrellas creating a beautiful, lively, urban retreat.
