Ananas is Sydney’s complete bar and dining destination, bringing a taste of the contemporary French Mediterranean / Cote D’Azur to Sydney’s Rocks district. French for pineapple, the word ananas has for centuries been synonymous with hospitality and abundance. Housed within one of Sydney’s landmark historic buildings featuring soaring ceilings and exposed stone walls, Ananas is both sassy and avant garde with fun 1920’s inspired décor including art deco lamps and hand-painted tiles cheekily referencing the pineapple. A pewter bar dominates the vast bar space, which offers an exhaustive, hand-picked selection of Champagnes to be served by the bottle, magnum and jeroboam. Classic and signature cocktails and an impressive selection of local and French wines (some exclusive to Australia) will complete the comprehensive drinks list. Ananas is the vision of hospitality entrepreneur John Szangolies. The brasserie will serve light, produce-centric food, cooked with traditional French methods but featuring global cues and accessible prices. Extensive bar and banquette seating makes the relaxed bar somewhere to kick back and settle in while enjoying the buzzy atmosphere and upbeat DJ sounds. The brasserie offers a selection of seating as well as private dining rooms for larger groups or those seeking a more discreet experience. A dedicated Oyster Bar is a highlight treating patrons to shucked-to-order oysters and a daily plateau fruits de mer. The full brasserie menu is complemented by a bar menu selection, available as supper until 3am for those wanting to make the most of the late license from Thursday to Sunday. Few Sydney venues offer such a complete late night dining experience, so night dwellers and theatre goers will love this tres bon brasserie. Ananas joins the acclaimed multi-level Argyle dining and nightlife precinct in The Rocks district which includes the ever popular Saké Restaurant & Bar, a contemporary Japanese restaurant.
