Ballarat Clarendon College is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school, located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.Formerly affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Australia, it is now a school of the Uniting Church and a member of the Ballarat Associated Schools.HistoryBallarat College commenced on Wednesday 6 July 1864 at the church of the Presbyterian Rev William Henderson, in Sturt Street, Ballarat. Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies' College was established by Mrs Elizabeth Kennedy, wife of the Rev Robert Kennedy in 1876. The two schools had many years of cooperative connections through their history and merged to become Ballarat Clarendon College in 1974.In 1977 Australian Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian churches came together to form the Uniting Church and hence the school's denomination changed from the Presbyterian Church to the Uniting Church.Academic standingClarendon has been ranked number one in regional Victoria for several years. It contests that position with Ballarat Grammar School, and together they are the only schools from Ballarat to feature in the rankings of the best Victorian schools.Laptop Computer ProgramIn 1995 Ballarat Clarendon College started a laptop computer program.
