Description

Barrie and Area VCARS is also responsible for the Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP). Help is available through all programs in English and French, 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year. Funding for our program is provided by the Government of Ontario. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support services to victims of crime and tragedy in our geographic area. All of our services are Free and Confidential. The Justice Department defines a victim as any person who is harmed, killed or suffering as the result of an accidental or intentional act committed by another person. The Ontario Victims’ Bill of Rights 1995 supports the right of individuals who have been impacted by a crime, to receive effective and timely assistance to help them cope with the aftermath of the crime. We have heard victims say that the most helpful support is from people who care, listen and understand. This kind of support is available from our trained staff and crisis response volunteers. We believe that everyone is entitled to human rights and justice regardless of individual differences. Barrie and Area VCARS strives to safeguard these rights, and to deliver services in a manner that preserves human dignity, respect and equity. "Support the Victim" "Soutenir la Victime"
