In our 6th year of providing Forest Kindergarten / Forest School to families and more than 20 years providing coaching and trainings we also provide workshops for educators and parents.

Description

We have a passion for child directed learning through play and provide school age programs, playgroups as well as workshops for professionals on child directed learning through play, adventure play, inquiry based learning and so much more. We also provide consultation for families on home programming and self directed learning mentorship. We have the distinction of being the first established and oldest Forest Kindergarten in Simcoe County. We have been providing Forest Kindergarten, Forest School and Outdoor Learning programs for more then 5 years. Since our founding we have provided entirely outdoor outdoor learning experiences in the Barrie Area. We are on more than 400 acres of natural woodland. We are fully dedicated to providing an environment for your child to experiment, thrive, learn and grow. We focus on learning through the inquiry based, emergent curriculum and place based learning. We keep classes sizes low and we provide a range of ages. We also focus on the children learning social and communication skills on the spot, and hands on learning that will benefit them for life. At Barrie Forest Kindergarten we believe childhood is full of fun, mystery and magic. We believe playing in the woods not only supports this but encourages a child's confidence, curiosity, drive to learn and drive to connect with themselves, their families and their communities. We know that not only does this satisfy the academic needs of preschoolers but by also focusing on social responsibility, social relationships, excitement about learning and a comfort with themselves through their mastery and decision making we provide a basis for children to enter school with a firm foundation that helps them not only at school or sports through the school years but these skills will be carried with the child to excel in life.
