"Different grains, same loaf, rising and growing together." The Bread and Roses Co-op began operations in 1990 after renovating the historical space of the Vogelsang Button Factory. Today we are comprised of 66 apartments located within the two buildings; the heritage building, built in 1879, and the newer six storey highrise.
Bread and Roses Co-op is a non-profit housing co-operative located in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. At Bread and Roses our goal is to provide safe, affordable housing that is located on the edge of the downtown core. Our membership is diverse, and is made up of seniors, young families, couples and singles. We offer a sense of community where members can share their talents and skills with each other and the co-op. The co-op operates according to the co-operative principles. We value democratic control. Members help to make decisions about what happens in the co-op, and they help to maintain the building.

Helping send kids in need from the Waterloo Region to summer camp Activa HOT SHOTS Street Hockey Tournament is a one-day hockey tournament featuring entertainment, prizes, Street Fair, Silent Auction, BBQ and family-friendly activities. Proceeds support Family & Children's Services Foundation to ensure that every child has the opportunity to have a summer camp experience where they can build confidence, life skills and self-esteem.
