The objectives of the UAHL Healthy Kids Program are: -Promote Healthy Nutrition -Promote Physical Activity -Promote Lifelong Healthy Lifestyles choices The Urban Aboriginal Healthy Kids Program is geared towards children between the ages of 0-12 with exceptions for youth between the ages of 13-19 years old. The Healthy Kids Program will focus on providing education on healthy eating and increase physical fitness levels for children and families. The following objectives for this program includes: Increase awareness and provide education on healthy eating for children Access and availability to healthy food for children Provide opportunities to support healthy eating for families Increase recreation activities that incorporate traditional activities Increase physical activity through recreation activities, education and activity programs. The Healthy Kids Program will allow children to build relationships, increase confidence, reach personal goals and live a healthy lifestyle for years to come. Overweight and obesity are threatening the health and well-being of children in Ontario. We are determined to provide the necessary resources to help decrease these high rates and implement activities that will benefit children in a positive manner.
