Why CityLibraries Townsville has a Facebook Page
CityLibraries Townsville's use of Facebook has the aims of community engagement, promotion of programs, resources and services, and information connections. It is used as an important resource for CityLibraries to actively engage with the community, serving as a place for discussion, enquires and collaboration.
Operating our Facebook page
CityLibraries Townsville Facebook page is maintained by CityLibraries' staff.
We uphold Council's Customer Service Standards and will respond to all enquiries within those timeframes.
Citylibraries Facebook presence uses a model with contributions from nominated staff. This best reflects the in-library experience where staff have various expertise, and allows you to interact with different staff.
We support the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (http://www.facebook.com/terms.php) and related Facebook policies, and we request that visitors to our page to do the same.
Our team will respond to enquiries during the hours of 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The page will be monitored but not active outside of these hours.
Moderating our Facebook page
We welcome all comments and encourage you to actively engage with CityLibraries via our Facebook page.
We would like our page to be friendly and welcoming to all users. In order for this to happen we will moderate as required.
Referral of inappropriate or defamatory comments may need to be a cause of action. These posts may be escalated to the Executive Manager for issue resolution.
We ask that when you engage with us, you ensure that you:
• do not harass, abuse or threaten other visitors to the site
• do not post comments or images that are likely to offend others, particularly in reference to an individual’s race, age, gender, sexuality, political leaning, religion or disability
• do not use obscene or offensive language
• do not post repeat comments continuously
• do not promote anything that may constitute spam, such as commercial interests, solicitations, advertisements or endorsements of any non-governmental agency
• do protect your personal privacy by not including email addresses, phone numbers or home addresses on the public wall
• That comments and posts on our page relate directly to Townsville City Council services, programs or enquiries.
If you don’t adhere to the above, we will moderate and remove your comment. We may potentially block you from CityLibraries Facebook account.
