The Creative Dance Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the enjoyment of dance to young people between the ages of 3 and 18 years. We offer classes in Modern Dance, Jazz Dance, Art/Dance & Creative Choreography.

General Info

Modern Dance Ages 6 - 18 4 different levels depending on ability & experience Modern 1 is for dancers who have had some dance experience. Focus of the class will be on the concepts of dance (space, time, energy, etc.) and technique (turns, leaps, combinations). Class will introduce a variety of dance styles (Jazz, Modern, Musical Theatre, etc.) & choreography skills. Modern 2 is a class for dancers with more experience. The class will have a strong focus on technique (turns, leaps, combinations) and will continue exploring the concepts of dance (space, time, energy, etc.). Class will introduce a variety of dance styles (Jazz, Modern, Musical Theatre, etc.) and choreography skills. Modern 3 will have a strong technique focus. Each class will begin with 30 minutes of work on a specific technique or skill and then incorporating the technique in different dance styles (Modern, Jazz, Musical Theatre, etc.). The last part will be for the dancers to work on choreography incorporating skills learned in class. Modern 4 will be similar in structure to Modern 3 but at a more advanced level. Dancers will spend more time on combinations and dance exploration. Dancers will also have more time for choreography using the skills and combinations learned in class and combining different dance styles and more challenging choreography. Art Dance Ages 3 to 6 Art Dance combines art and dance concepts into one lesson. Each week dancers explore a new concept through both dance styles & art techniques. Classes include warm-up, exploration, skill development & choreography. Creative Choreography * Ages 6 to 10 This lively dance class includes creative dance concepts (space, time & energy, etc.), dance techniques (plies, tendu, chasse, etc.) dance styles (Modern, Jazz, Irish, Jive, Musical Theatre, etc.) & choreography. Beginning Jazz & Hip Hop Ages 8 to 12 Thursdays (10 weeks) 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. This energetic class introduces dancers to jazz (syncopation and improvisation) and hip hop moves (isolations, popping, etc.) Advanced Jazz Ages 12 - 18 Cost: $300 For experienced dancers who wish to focus on jazz technique, combinations and routines.
