Dr. McEwan, originally from Northern Ireland, has been a resident of Nova Scotia for the past 19 years. A competitive soccer career as an adolescent, combined with an overwhelming interest in the human body, led Dr. McEwan to pursue a career in Chiropractic. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree from Dalhousie University, and graduated magna cum laude and with clinic honours, from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2013. Dr. McEwan was heavily involved with the college, student body, and profession throughout his time at CMCC, serving four years on the CMCC Student’s Council, including a one-year term as Students’ Council President during his graduating year. Dr. McEwan received several awards throughout his four years of study at CMCC, most notably receiving the Douglas Brown Memorial Award, the CMCC President’s Award, and the Board of Governors’ Chair’s Award. He is a professional member of the CMCC, the CMCC Governors’ Club, the Canadian Chiropractic Association, and the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors. Dr. McEwan employs an evidenced informed approach to patient care, and utilizes a combination of therapies in everyday practice such as, chiropractic adjustment & mobilization, soft tissue therapy (ART® & instrument assisted), therapeutic modalities (laser, ultrasound, IFC), taping, and exercise prescription. Fueled by an athletic interest, Dr. McEwan has a special interest in his practice for acute injury management and rehabilitation in sport, but his patients span the spectrum. He has treated those in acute or chronic pain, children to the elderly, office workers to physical laborers, and anyone in between. Dr. McEwan enjoys working with his patients to develop an individual and patient-specific course of treatment. Ultimate goals of therapy are to not only alleviate pain, but also to correct the underlying cause of such, to restore function, prevent reoccurrence, and grant each patient an opportunity to achieve optimal health & performance.
