Dr Shivaune Wright is a licensed Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, a rigorous 4-year full-time program, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. Dr Shivaune practices at Still Water Therapies in the upper beach area of Toronto. Her passion for health, fitness and the human body led her to pursue a kinesiology degree and career in personal training. After five years in this field and a burning passion to take people further in their health and fitness journeys, she was introduced to naturopathic medicine, and shortly thereafter, knew this was her calling. Dr Shivaune uses naturopathic medicine as a unique system of health care blending traditional therapies with modern-day science. A large majority of therapies that Dr Shivaune utilizes in practice are evidence-based, with the remainder of therapies being founded on clinically sound results. Dr Shivaune's approach to health concerns and goals is two-tiered, whereby it takes into account each patient's physical, mental, emotional, social and financial needs, and is results-focused. The goal is to treat you as the unique and amazing individual that you are, and to help you feel better quickly, while addressing the underlying cause of your health disturbance. Her own positive experience of home-birthing her first child inspired Dr Shivaune to wish to support and empower other women through the childbirth process as a Naturopathic Birth Doula. She aims to provide gentle and caring support, and help couples make informed and empowered choices, so that they too can have beautiful and positive outcomes as they welcome their baby into the world. She has experience and is comfortable in all birth settings - home, hospital, birth centre, car (just kidding) - working alongside midwives, obstetrician/gynaecologists, nurses and other non-labouring partners to provide a safe and comfortable space for the labouring mother. Dr Shivaune views it as a true honour to be invited into such a special time in one's life, and it's never lost on her how sacred this period is. Dr Shivaune has a general family practice with an interest in stress management, detoxification, weight management, digestive and immune health, fertility, hormonal disturbances, perinatal and pediatric health. She is an active member of the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors. When she’s not furthering her knowledge of Naturopathic Medicine through courses and workshops, and working with patients in the clinic, Shivaune can be found raising her two young boys, experimenting in the kitchen, with dirty hands in the garden, traveling, biking, doing yoga and reading. She lives with her partner and their two children in the east end of Toronto.
