EMW is founded on 3 fundamental pillars; building relationships, breaking cultural barriers, and cultivating personal development.
Established in 2003, EMW was created to bridge the gap between Western culture and Eastern traditions, while spreading an understanding and appreciation of South Asian heritage. Over a decade later, EMW’s underlying mission has remained alive and has prospered, with the club continuing to grow both in numbers, and in ambition. EMW works hard to foster relationships with Laurier students and within the Laurier community. At the core of EMW is a group of dedicated students, filled with a passion for their Eastern culture, and a commitment to their Western values. It’s a network of successful students with a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences, aiming to support one another by providing opportunities where relationships can be built. Essentially, EMW is a group of students, for the students. Known across Laurier for its annual sell-out events like the Shoeless Joe’s Social, BLACKOUT, and the North American Culture Show, EMW is back again for the 2016-17 school year, better than ever.
