About our doctor. Dr. Mark A. Ruiz is a native Dallasite and graduated high school from Jesuit College Preparatory School. He went on to attend the University Of Houston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He was accepted into the University of Houston College of Optometry where in 1996 he received his Doctorate of Optometry. Dr. Ruiz did his first internship at the New Orleans Naval Support Activity Center where he received a letter of excellence from the base commander, and his second internship here in Dallas at the Cornea Associates of Texas. In 1999, Dr. Ruiz expanded his license and became an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Ruiz has been practicing in the same location in North Garland since 1996, and has been active in the community with the Garland Chamber of Commerce, Garland Rotary, and as a former board member of the Garland Civic Theatre. Dr. Ruiz is a member of the Dallas County Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Association and the America Optometric Association. Dr. Ruiz performs eye exams, contact lens exams and is therapeutically licensed to treat all diseases of the eye, eye injuries, and Lasik management. In Dr. Ruiz’s spare time he likes to travel, scuba dive, and spend time with family and friends.
