Herr Blick founder Steven Blick has nearly 28 years experience in the field of hairdressing, beginning his career as an apprentice in Belfast His craft has seen him tend the manes of celebrities in London’s Soho, own an award-winning salon in the East End’s Shoreditch, and arrive in Melbourne via a stint working in Hong Kong. Over time Blick grew to loath the modern hair salon experience, finding it be an unsatisfying and impersonal exchange between a customer and several salon employees. In recent years he has eschewed this approach by working independently. Ultimately his goal was to create a bespoke hairdressing experience for his clients, one in which a haircut is merely a memento of a unique transaction. This is how Herr Blick began. Herr Blick is proud to announce its new premises – a suite of private rooms in the stunning 1920s Victor Horsley Chambers building at the Paris end of Collin Street. Sitting above street level in the leafy canopy it is a serene and tranquil setting that feels a world away from the Melbourne CBD. With original parquet flooring throughout, the rooms are filled with mid-century furnishings courtesy of Grandfather’s Axe, which are available to purchase exclusively by Herr Blick clients. Vintage posters from Galerie Montmartre hang on the wall, and the space is punctuated by lush foliage. Blick has managed to create a sense of history and depth of tradition, despite the relative youth of his brand. The hairdressing service itself is meticulous and thorough. Blick will work in consultation with you to decide on a style that suits you and one that will last. He will, cut and finish your hair, giving you his undivided attention at all times. Herr Blick has two expert practitioners to take up private rooms in the Collins Street studio. Danni Dihn and P.J Webley have over 40 years experience between them and are available now to consult with you on your next cut and colour choice.
