Description

Online CBT for depression Prof Ed Watkins from the Mood Disorders Centre has launched an innovative trial to better understand the active ingredients of online cognitive behavioural treatment (CBT) so that we can build stronger, better and more widely available treatments. The IMPROVE trial provides free and open access to online cognitive-behavioural therapy for people with depression, supported by online guidance from a trained therapist. The treatment study is open to participants with good English who are experiencing moderate to severe levels of depression, who are interested in receiving internet CBT, and are not currently receiving psychotherapy. General Info

The free therapy is available to moderately to severely depressed people who speak English from anywhere in the world. We can accept people whether or not they are on medication so long as their medication has not changed in the last 4 weeks and they are not currently receiving any psychotherapy or other talking therapy. The trial runs until winter 2013. Those taking part will need to have a current email address and access to the internet for at least 4 months. This therapy is designed to help people with depression and is not suitable for individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder or psychosis or with current drug or alcohol problems. We do offer free mood screening for all those logging on to our mood screener website, with feedback and advice on the results.
