The International Centre is the inter-cultural heartbeat of the University; a place where the University connects with the world. The Centre provides a range of services and programs for international and Canadian students, university staff, and the broader community. Our programs encourage an understanding of our global interdependence and promote learning in a cross-cultural environment. We are the first stop for international students seeking assistance, and a great resource for anyone interested in exploring global issues. UAI international student services’ unit supports faculty and departmental student advisors in these areas: • Concerns about academic performance • Cultural adjustment • Emergency loans and bursaries • Immigration • International students working on and off campus • Personal issues • International student work study program (ISWSP) • UofA Health Insurance Plan (UAHIP) • Bridges program for students looking to improve their presentation speaking skills • Peer program for students who could benefit from mentoring and organized social activities • English conversation club • Orientation for international students University of Alberta International provides services and programs that build an international dimension to research, teaching and community service at the University of Alberta. In addition to services for students, UAI also provides support to senior administration and faculty members in furthering the University of Alberta's international activities.
