INTERNSHIPS
Internships are valuable opportunities to learn or practice skills in your field. Experience gained and contacts made through a good internship are invaluable on your resume and prepare you for your career. JWU is unique in that we require most majors to complete an internship prior to graduation. Students gain practical work skills while earning academic credit towards a degree.
You should contact or visit the EE&CS office during your first term to determine the requirements for your individual program. After selecting your internship term through online registration, you’ll select your internship site (one term before your scheduled internship). Students are required to attend an information session, submit a marketable resume and attend an orientation session prior to beginning your internship. Depending on your major, there may be other requirements.
EMPLOYER RELATIONS
We greatly value our employer partnerships within various industries. With more than 400 hiring partners at the Denver Campus, EE&CS knows what employers are looking for, and can prepare you for your career path.
JWU has significant long-term relationships called covenant partnerships with industry leaders including Marriott International and Compass Group. Our covenant partners recognize us as a valuable source of qualified and talented employees and continuously participate in experiential education, on-campus recruiting, scholarship programs, classroom presentations and other initiatives to benefit industry and student needs.
Career Fairs
EE&CS offers several recruiting events and networking opportunities throughout the school year: the Fall Part-Time Job Fair, Winter Internship Fair, and Spring Career Fair. Students utilize these events to apply and interview for positions, learn more about companies within their industry, determine sites for internships, and set career goals.
Employer Spotlights
In addition to our career fairs, we offer employers the opportunity to come to campus throughout the school year. These employers offer information about their full- and part-time positions and available internship opportunities. They also present in classes and interview for open positions. This allows you a more intimate look at specific companies and offers information about those companies’ job opportunities.
Experience.com
Experience.com is a site that may be accessed through jwuLink by current JWU students. Internships, full-time and part-time job openings as well as industry volunteer opportunities are posted on the site. This site allows you to search open positions and apply online.
