Description

The Lancaster High School Marching Band has a long tradition of excellence dating back to the late 1950’s. The Marching Redskins began in the Lancaster Junior High School under the direction of Richard Pascucci. “Mr. P” soon followed these students to LHS where the Marching Band tradition has thrived ever since. The Lancaster Marching Band is entering its 18th season in the New York State Field Band Conference. 2013 NYSFBC Class Champions--Large School Division 2 2012 BOA Grand National Championship Participant 2011 NYSFBC Class Champions--Large School Division 2 2011 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Sweepstakes Champions, selected to perform pre-game festivities at the Liberty Bowl 2010 & 2014 Performed in parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. 2009 Performed for the Rockettes at Shea's Buffalo. 2006 Gator Bowl Festival (Jacksonville, FL)-- first place in class AAA field show competition. The band has also travelled recently to Orlando and Cape Canaveral, Florida, Indianapolis, Annapolis MD, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh and Memphis. Locally, the Lancaster Marching Band performs annually at the Memorial Day and Independence Day Parades in the Village of Lancaster, and have performed at several area college football games. Additionally, the Marching Band has performed with the Lancaster Town Band, for the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium, for the Buffalo Bisons at Coca Cola Park and have also appeared at the Lancaster Speedway. The LHS Marching Band is part of a very active music program that has been named one of the Best Communities in America for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation in 2011. The Lancaster Academy of the Visual and Performing Arts, a three-year program of academic courses, lecturers, recitals, internships and arts activities, is recent addition to the Lancaster High School Music Department, which involves hundreds of students in numerous bands, choirs, orchestras and extra-curricular activities.
