Description

We have been working on developing a new system for the live music industry that is designed to help all parties involved reach new heights. By creating an infrastructure that will address all of the major problems experienced by members of the live music community, LIVE CORE is designed to reshape the way musicians (union and non-union) and venue owners interact and do business. Additionally, in conjunction with the tourism industry related organizations and members, this system, which will be a cooperative owned by its members (musicians and venue owners!), will also provide a gateway for other businesses in the community to be included and participate in this new eco-system. One of our goal is to create awareness concerning the unfortunate reality that live musicians are often not being paid for their services and communicate the urgent need for change. With the help of our partners, our intention is to; first, help the city understand the need to create a “Vancouver Music Office” (similar to what cities like Austin and Nashville have done) that would enable the development of the city’s music tourism industry. Second, to create a pilot project in Vancouver to test out the LIVE CORE system and develop it into a solution that could be a template to be exported to other Canadian cities as well as cities throughout the world where this problem is also present. We are working actively on connecting with some of the key partners for LIVE CORE; Vancouver city hall, mayor Gregor Robertson and Vision Vancouver, Vancouver's business associations, Tourism Vancouver and other organizations. In the next few months, we will unveil more details about how LIVE CORE will make the right difference in the live music community.
