Malvern Valley Primary School is located in the heart of the community and within the Malvern Valley Phoenix Park Precinct. The precinct includes the Phoenix Park Community Centre, Phoenix Park Library, Cafe, Playground, Skate Park and now the Phoenix Park Children’s Hub. The Children’s Hub offers a Maternal & Child Health Centre, a Creche, a kindergarten, and playgroup facilities. Malvern Valley Primary School has a school population of approximately 170 students. The school is located in the eastern suburbs, 18 kilometres from Melbourne and close to Chadstone Shopping Centre. Our class sizes range between 18 - 26 students. After a fire in 2005, our facilities were rebuilt in 2006 so they provide the students with a modern attractive learning environment set within extensive park like grounds. Malvern Valley forms a Community Hub with the Stonnington Council's Phoenix Park complex. The school grounds include well maintained gardens, three basketball courts and asphalt areas, a grassed oval and adventure play equipment. The school has excellent learning and teaching facilities including a large hall used for a variety of purposes such as assemblies, Performing Arts and Physical Education. In addition the school has an Art room, a Library and a well-equipped canteen. A technology rich environment assists students to be engaged in their learning and allows them to apply their literacy and numeracy skills in innovative ways. The extensive ICT infrastructure at the school includes laptops, desktop computers and interactive whiteboards in every classroom. We have a strong tradition of parent participation at Malvern Valley as we view the education of students as a partnership between home and school. Our families take great pride in being involved not only with our school – but also our local community.
