Customers were treated to their first taste of the Mary Brown's Signature Chicken recipe at a restaurant called Golden Skillet in Richmond, Virginia in 1964. And they've been asking for more ever since! Canadians were first introduced to the great taste of Mary Brown's in 1969 when two Newfoundlanders, Pat Tarrant and Cyril Fleming, opened their first restaurant in St. John's, Newfoundland. During that first year, they tripled in size, opening two more restaurants under the original name. We changed our name to Mary Brown's soon after, in honour of the woman behind our Signature Chicken recipe. Since then Mary Brown's has become a household name, and our reputation has only grown! Renowned for big, juicy, tender chicken, today Mary Brown's has over 85 stores across Canada and a number of International locations under development that offer the Famous Chicken & Taters you've come to love. Over the years we've expanded our menu, bringing you even more mouth-watering options. From succulent 100% white meat chicken sandwiches (Big Mary) and tender chicken fingers, to flavourful wraps, to crisp, fresh salads and our special coleslaw, we've tantalized the taste buds of our customers through our commitment to deliver only the highest quality food. Although our restaurants serve fries, we are famous for our "taters". Served on their own or with a variety of toppings, our taters are a customer favourite.
