Description

EcoMarkham, an extra-curricular club at Markham District, is composed of a group of passionate students who are devoted to raising awareness about the environment, within and beyond the school boundaries. Our team aims to promote sustainable living and eco-friendly habits. This is objective is supported through our club activities such as conferences and workshops with other eco-advocates, school Earth Hour assemblies, and running our club booth at school events. One of our ongoing and biggest projects is our school's very own living wall! Starting from September 2006, we have raised over $20 000 from applying grants, community sponsorships and fundraising. Though it is a temporary installation, our aim is to set up a larger, permanent bio-filter at the front of the school foyer. We plan to reach this goal by fundraising and approaching businesses for sponsorships. We encourage students to take action and get involved. And we happily invite you to join our mission! Let's make MDHS a greener place!
