The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets began in 1987 when four people's dream of bringing a taste of Southeast Asias nightmarket to Australian shores came to life. Nowadays accompanied by flavours covering five continents, a full menu of 1200 items is available to choose from. Assured to get all of our visiters taste buds buzzing. After sunset the market bursts with life from three main entertainment locations with local and travelling street performers positioned up and down the main drag. Get lost through the 200-250 never ending arts and craft stalls to find that unique gift, grab a massage, book a tour or simply indulge with never before seen handmade craft works of local artists. The smells, sights and sounds are guaranteed to provide you with an unforgetable one-of-kind experience. A true reflection of Darwin's multicultural society and originality. The Mindil Beach Sunset Market is owned and operated by the Mindil Beach Sunset Market Association (MBSMA). The Association, a not-for-profit organisation made up by its members, the stall holders and iis completed with a small management team. Mindil Beach Sunset Markets run over Darwin's Dry Season from May - October. MBSMA begins late April opening every year on the last Thursday in April, finishing on the last Thursday of October.
