The program at North End Co-operative Preschool is designed to enrich the learning experience of 2 ½ to 4 year old children. Our mission statement says: “The mission of the North End Co-operative Preschool is to provide a parent-involved nursery school, committed to the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development of young children within the St. Catharines area.” North End Co-operative Preschool is a registered non profit charitable organization that has been in operation since February 1976. As a co-operative preschool, parents are required to assist in the operation of the school in some capacity. Parents serve as Officers on the Board of Directors, attend meetings and work on committees. We are financed by parent’s fees and proceeds from various fundraising activities. The school is licensed and inspected annually by the Ministry of Education – Child Care and Early Years Act 2014, and inspected annually by the Niagara Regional Health Department and the St. Catharines Fire Department. We offer: > 2 day programs (Mon/Wed or Tues-Thurs) > 3 day programs ((Mon/Wed/Fri or Tues/Thurs/Fri) > 5 day (Mon-Fri) All classes run from 9-11:30am Parents are given the opportunity to volunteer in the classroom, if they desire. We have two staff, both qualified Early Childhood Educators to teach the children. All parents commit to fundraising and committee participation, as well as the ability to serve on the Board of Directors. We provide a fully inclusive atmosphere that supports each child's development. For additional support needs, a Resource Consultant can be accessed through our program. Early intervention is the key to helping children thrive. Each class consists of: > Gross motor play (outdoor or in the gym) > Washroom (reinforcement of proper handwashing routine) > Snack (following guidelines as set out by the Day Nurseries Act) > Opening Circle (discussion of weather, age appropriate letter learning) > Free play time with developmentally appropriate toys > Circle Time (songs, stories, creative movement) We also offer field trips and host community visitors such as the Fire Department and Mad Science. General Info
North End Co-Op Preschool has been in operation since 1977. Our teacher is Joanne who has been a Registered E.C.E. for several years. Joanne is great with the children as well as the parents and continues much of the traditions and routines that North End Co-Op Preschool has provided for over 30 years. She continues to take workshops and classes to make sure she has the latest tools and knowledge to best help the children during their time at school. Being a co-op organization, there is parental involvement in the running of the school. This keeps our costs lower and we in return keep our fees lower. By operating in this manner, more children have access to prechool that may not otherwise have had. We provide inclusive programming, regardless of your child's needs. Available Programs: 2-Day Morning Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs mornings from 9:00 am - 11:30am 3-Day Morning Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs mornings plus Friday mornings from 9:00 am-11:30 am 5-Day Morning Monday through Friday mornings from 9:00 am - 11:30 am Each class has a maximum of 16 students with two RECEs Each class consists of the following components: Opening circle Crafts, water play, sand table, dramatic play and blocks Academic activities Washroom and snack time Closing circle - stories, songs, creative movement Outdoor gross motor play We also incorporate field trips and community visitors into our programming whenever possibleCompany Rating
