The Ontario Geological Survey, a public institution serving Ontarians for more than 125 years, plays a vital role in collecting and publishing information about Ontario’s geology.
Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) is responsible to describe, market, and be the custodian for the geological data and knowledge about Ontario. Geological data and knowledge include the distribution of rock, deposits left behind by the glaciers, the Earth resources within those geological materials, including mineral resources, groundwater resources, and energy resources. OGS works with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to increase the understanding about the value of geology to each and every one of us related to topics such as mineral investment attraction, public health and safety, climate change, health of the environment, groundwater source area protection, and potential for different types of renewable and non-renewable energy sources in the Earth.
