Description

Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) is responsible to describe, market, and be the custodian for the geological data and knowledge about Ontario. Geological data and knowledge include the distribution of rock, deposits left behind by the glaciers, the Earth resources within those geological materials, including mineral resources, groundwater resources, and energy resources. OGS works with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to increase the understanding about the value of geology to each and every one of us related to topics such as mineral investment attraction, public health and safety, climate change, health of the environment, groundwater source area protection, and potential for different types of renewable and non-renewable energy sources in the Earth. How To Get to Ontario Geological Survey

Sudbury bus service stops at the Willet Green Miller Centre. From the downtown terminal, take either the 'University via Paris' or 'Regent University' bus. Once the bus reaches the Laurentian University campus on Ramsey Lake Road, get out at the stop in front of the big steel building (Willet Green Miller Centre) - home of the OGS head office.

General Info

The Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) provides leadership in understanding of the geological framework of the province interpreted in terms of all provincial activities that make use of, or are affected by geology. The objectives of the OGS are to provide and promote a comprehensive inventory and understanding of the geological framework and processes in Ontario as a basis for provincial policy and planning in support of mineral exploration and development, in support of public health and safety, and to help ensure a secure energy supply.
