The Fong Optometry & Health Sciences Library is one of the science branches of the Library of the University of California at Berkeley and it provides one of the best research collections in the country, including a growing segment in electronic formats. The library supports the faculty, students, staff, research laboratories, and clinics of the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, and the students, faculty, and staff of the UCB-UCSF Joint Medical Program. The library's collection includes over 13,000 volumes of books and journals in the fields of optometry, ophthalmology and vision science. Within these areas are included anatomy, physiology, neurology, biochemistry, pathology and microbiology of the visual organs of humans and other animals; visual and color perception; ocular pharmacology; occupational and environmental vision; ophthalmic photography; low vision and blindness; history of optometry; and the social, legal, economic, and professional aspects of eye care. The library also has a Health Sciences collection, which includes textbooks in health and medicine topics, material on health and medical education, on doing research in health and medicine and selected resources in medical informatics. The collection also includes slides, videos, audiocassettes, and a growing segment in electronic formats. Many additional electronic resources are accessible through the California Digital Library.
