Pawsome Pooches is a Darwin based business with a heavy focus on dog behaviour and training. Vicki is a Government Accredited Dog Trainer and is also a qualified obedience instructor. Vicki has been working with dogs since 2006 in a number of different roles including vet nursing, management and kennel hand work. Vicki began her passion of working with dogs at the age of 13 when she started walking the local dogs for $2! She thanks her dad for her love of dogs as he was always bringing home lost pooches until he could reunite them with their owners. At Pawsome Pooches we understand that all dogs (and people) are individuals which is why we don't box ourselves in with one training technique. What may work for Fluffy and John might not work for Fido and Jane. We use Operant Conditioning as our primary training technique. A method that teaches dogs that their behaviour can control the outcome (to their advantage) of many different situations by behaving in a more desirable way (to the two legged counterparts) This method helps build a strong relationship between you and your dog. Setting a clear and consistent "contract of rules" gives your pooch a strong criteria to follow while fostering trust and opening a clear communication line of what is acceptable behaviour. We help identify your goals as an individual pooch guardian. We focus on what your pooch CAN do not what he or she can't do and build on that behaviour. Our puppy love classes can help socialise your pup to a myriad of things while learning basic foundation skills and manners. Our beginners obedience classes will show you how to teach your dog basic commands, and improve your control and relationship with your pooch. Our intermediate classes teach you how to use hand signals to command your dog while increasing distance and duration. Our dog walking service can be a short or long term stint. Perhaps you have a friend house sitting while you are away but don't want to give them the added responsibility of walking your pooch. Pet minding in your own home. Your pets will love being cared for in the comfort of their own home in the most pawsome way possible. We know how important your beloved pets are to you (ours are too) that's why we treat every single one of them as though they are our own. We have emergency plans for any situation including cyclones! All pet minding services includes a daily walk, security checks of your premises, daily health checks of your pets to ensure they are always in the best condition plus so much more!
