Peekaboo Beans is a children’s clothing company that specializes in stylish PLAY clothes for children and teens! This Canadian company was founded in 2006 in Vancouver by a mom that was tired of fussing over little snaps, buttons and hard to use zippers while dressing her children. Puzzled by her struggle to find clothing that supported children’s developmental, physical, and social requirements she began asking other moms: “is this a common feeling?” Turns out it was! After considerable research and countless focus groups, she began to understand what parents wanted and thus, Peekaboo Beans was born! You don’t have to sacrifice style to dress your child comfortably with Peekaboo Beans! Our Mission: Providing the ingredients for a playful life! Playdate Ready! Safety, Function & Fun all in one… What makes these clothes different? FUN Versatility -Mix, match, layering and convertible styles for quick decisions and a busy, active lifestyle. Often referred to as “Dad Friendly” because every piece you purchase from a season will match with all of the other pieces. Even Dad can’t mess that one up! Reversible Styles – for the inevitable spills and messes while on the go as well as more dressing options! FUNCTION Twill Tape Hem – to stabilize the garment and hold the hem in place which makes washing a charm (I also like this because it allows you to easily roll up sleeves or pant legs if they are a little bit long) Easy to use Zippers – designed for little hands learning how to dress themselves! Drawstrings – for tiny waists and easy off and on approach when learning to potty train or for kids on the go. Flatlock Stitching – Less irritation for your little beans soft sweet skin, plus no bulk for comfort. A-Line Shape – to provide comfort for little Buddha bellies Thumb holes – for warmth and easy layering to avoid bunchy sleeves Pre-Shrunk – to avoid surprises and to ensure the perfect fit! I’m always searching out the best deals but never wanting to sacrifice quality in the process... and let’s be honest, I love name brands. Since I found out I was pregnant with Lachlan I have spent hundreds (ok, maybe thousands) of dollars on name brand clothes without ever doing research about where they came from or how they were made. Being a first time mom I researched everything from diapers to breathable blankets and swaddles but never thought to look into how his clothes were being made or what chemicals were being used in the process. Did you know that the human body absorbs the chemicals that are found in clothing materials and that washing before you wear doesn’t necessarily remove them all. I was shocked when I found this out! Now, I’m not saying Lachlan will never wear clothes from a big box retail store ever again, he will – but on a day-to-day basis I feel good that I can say that the majority of his clothes are chemical free! Peekaboo beans does not use any chemicals in their manufacturing process and everything has been washed and preshrunk before it arrives to you so you can wear it as soon as it arrives. I’m so passionate about making small changes that overall make a big difference in our household since welcoming Lachlan into our life! We have switched to organic diapers, chemical free house hold cleaners, natural laundry detergent and now… chemical free clothing. Now I know what you’re thinking… how can I call myself a “bargain shopper” but afford to dress Lachlan in Peekaboo Beans. The answer is simple… quality of quantity. You and your babe will love these clothes so much that you won’t feel it necessary to have a closet full of items that he or she will only wear once or twice before growing out of. We have grown to love Peekaboo Beans so much that the other day I actually took a PB outfit out of the dirty clothes hamper to put on him again instead of choosing a non-PB outfit from his closet. The best part? These clothes seriously keep their value! There is an online vintage community where women sell, trade and upsize their beans and I have seen items from 2009 sell for TWICE their original price tag because there is such a high demand! On average, from what I have experienced you can sell your old beans for 50-80% of their original price tag…so why not! Still not sold?
