Allison has long had a passion for human rights and social justice that makes her go above and beyond for every client, fighting as long and hard as necessary to win. During her law degree worked as a research associate with Mr El-Farouk Khaki, a prominent Toronto refugee lawyer and human rights activist. Further, she developed her practical experience and knowledge by working at the Environmental Defenders’ Office and at a community legal aid clinic. She also participated in a public interest law clinic assisting and advising individuals seeking judicial review of government, court and tribunal decisions. Following her call to the Australian bar in 2011, Alison worked in the litigation unit of the Department of Environment and Resource Management. With a team of only twenty lawyers the litigation unit prosecuted all environmental offences, handled all civil and criminal appeals and Land Court matters for the entire state of Queensland. Upon returning to Canada to be closer to family, she articled at a firm specializing in civil litigation, immigration, wills and estates, family and criminal law at all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia. After working with several other firms she opened her own practice in 2014. Allison has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal. She regularly appears before the refugee and immigration boards and appeal divisions With a focus on criminal and immigration law she also does some family and civil litigation.
