RJ Gillespie is a photographer living on Canada’s incredibly beautiful West Coast. Her early years and into adulthood were spent on the Saskatchewan prairie. RJ loved the beauty of the undulating grasslands and expansive, ever-changing skies. She then lived several years in Alberta, where she fell in love with the landscape and crisp colour palette of Alberta. RJ has called the BC capital city of Victoria her home since the summer of 2008. She thrives in the mild climate; enjoying the slow paced lifestyle. Here, she began to view her surroundings through the lens of her camera. It is on the island, that she has begun actively pursuing her passion to create art that stirs emotions in both the photographer and the viewer. RJ loves working with her subject material, finding the shot, waiting for the light and taking the memory to her studio. In her studio, she interacts with the image and the memory to produce original digital transformations that are alive with movement, colour and texture.
