Description

A lifelong horse owner I learned traditional methods of training throughout the majority of my earlier years, enabling me to compete on several levels and in several disciplines. As I got older I became interested in more than the physical attributes of the horse and began seeking the answers to the psychological and natural instincts of the horse. It was during my time as the Co-founder, Director and Trainer of a national horse rescue organization that I learned more than I ever expected. In rescuing neglected and abused domestic horses, we also dealt with horses with behavioral issues. When possible the horses would be re-school and re-homed to appropriate lifelong homes. In addition we became actively involved in the rescue efforts of the hundreds and thousands of young Premarin mares and foals that were destined to slaughter every year. It was here that I became most educated in the natural ways of the horse and the effects of human energy on the horse. In addition I learned the importance of building a relationship with your horse based on trust and respect and the importance of confidence. Unlike the majority of other rescue organizations we worked with each wild mare and foal individually by befriending them, teaching them to safely be haltered and led, to be groomed, respective and trusting of picking up their feet, and yes even loading into a horse trailer. Each approved adopter was required to be part of the training process, so they too could safely continue on with the training and socializing of their mare or foal that were nothing more than the byproduct of the estrogen drug. In a four year period the organization successfully rescued and befriended over 200 mares and foals. After a long illness I was advised to leave the rescue organization, in doing so the training skills were compromised and the organization was unable to continue with the rescue efforts. The organization that still exists today under the name of Lucky’s Legacy is primarily a retirement community for the remaining horses. Still recovering I have begun working with horses part time. I work primarily with problematic horses, using natural energy and meditative techniques, teaching them to trust and respect their humans. This page is dedicated to them.
