Rotaract is a part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. Service Above Self
Community service and fundraising form the central focus of our club activities. We also work on building leadership and organizational skills through professional development workshops. The Rotaract Club of Ottawa South is made up of dedicated individuals who work around the clock to help this organization grow. In the past year, our club has been involved in many fundraising activities connected with the Rotary Club of Ottawa South, partook in volunteer work at the Ottawa Mission through their sandwich making program, and organized our first fundraising event “Halloween on the Keys”, raising $2000 for the Distress Center of Ottawa and Region in October 2011. In the coming months, our club plans to organize another event to raise funds for a Rotary Shelter Box, which will enable us to reach out to individuals who have been struck by disaster wherever they might be. In the future, our club plans to organize more events, which will aim to help both the national and international community. On top of the events and volunteer work outlined above, we also make time for fun and personal growth exercises. We are an extremely close knit group who enjoy each other’s company and lend a helping hand or a listening ear whenever needed. Whether planning a karaoke night, or fundraising for an event aimed to help out the community at large, our club always puts in effort to make the events successful and most importantly enjoyable! Our meetings are held every second Tuesday at 7:00 pm at KS Restuarant. If you would like to learn more about our club or are interested in attending a meeting, please e-mail us at rotaractottawasouth@gmail.com.
