Fusion of Productivity and Wellness in the Office space Sit Stand Office Solutions is the result of my experience moving from a small family business into a high pressure professional services career. I grew up in the office furniture industry – learning the value of hard work above all else. I spent my weekdays learning from my parents; selling, building, carrying, and installing office furniture. I was up before work in the gym, and working late after work to finish uni assignments. At no point during this busy schedule did I sit or stand all day. I was fortunate in that this job kept me active, energized and healthy. 18-months ago I started a career in a high pressure professional services role. What I have learned over this time shocked me. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not afraid of hard work or putting in the long hours to achieve a deadline… I’ve been doing that my whole life. No. What terrified me was the way my colleagues so quickly lost their spark... Sitting head-down all day… often without a lunch break. Barely walking more than 50 metres (and only then to fill up their coffee). While I respect the hard work that goes into hitting tight deadlines – I couldn’t help but fear the lifestyle I was heading towards. People dragging their feet…tired eyes…coffee in hand. Pale skinned and always tired. Constantly sick. Always complaining. I set to work (with the help of some awesome people) to find a solution to this un-appealing future that I was sure to realize. My aim; to find a sustainable alternative. I didn’t want to be unhealthy, unproductive, or miserable every day I go to work. No. I wanted a solution that would maximize my productivity, keep me focused, healthy, and satisfied in my career. I know that long hours are sometimes unavoidable. I know that everybody works hard, feels tired, and has bad days. I also know that there are steps we can all take to minimize the impacts of these realities. Simple, achievable steps that can drastically improve your focus, wellbeing and job satisfaction. I present to you Sit Stand Office Solutions – healthy workspace alternatives for hard working people. I have taken my knowledge of the office furniture industry, my experiences of unproductive, cancerous workplaces, and found a solution that benefits all of us. Most importantly, I offer you the same solutions that I have implemented in my own life.
