How Does Reflexology Work? Reflexology is a natural healing art, where the feet and hands are viewed as maps of the body. The feet and hands contain corresponding pressure points to specific body areas and functions. With application of proper pressure using the fingers and thumbs, the feet and hands are stimulated, allowing the body to relax and repair naturally. Benefits - Reduces, relaxes excess tension & congestion in the body, improves circulation, normalizes body function, acts as preventative maintenance. Any person of any age in any condition of health can benefit from reflexology. What is Involved in a Session? A short discussion regarding any present and past health concerns. The session then begins with a few minutes of relaxation techniques followed by meticulous thumb and finger pressure covering all areas of the feet. The session ends with the application of lotion. What Conditions can Reflexology Help? Some common conditions (but not limited to) are migraines, headaches, arthritis, neck, shoulder, back pain, blood pressure, symptoms of menopause, hip discomfort, knee pain. Diabetic feet may be worked on. May improve pancreatic function, blood sugar level, circulation & flexibility of the foot & ankle. Reflexology may be used in conjunction with chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, western medicine & other naturopathic & homeopathic therapies. Origin of reflexology has been traced back to ancient Egypt. In modern times, it has been in practice in North America since the 1930's. Biography Carilyn has been intrigued with the art of reflexology for over 20 years. She has a background in health care and business administration. Carilyn is able to utilize this experience and knowledge to complement her skills as a reflexologist. She enjoys working with people of any age.
