Sound Skills DJ School with Simon Batchelor (aka DJ Batch) Located at a private location near Modbury SA, or he can come to you if your location is happy with loud music being played for several hours straight with no interruptions etc. • Fully qualified trainer (Currently holds Cert4 Training & Assessment TAE40110) with 10 years of corporate training experience • 17 Years DJing Experience of which the first 10 years were purely Vinyl and completely self taught. Played hundreds of gigs including festivals and clubs and has supported the biggest names in Drum and Bass! Currently has a radio show on Fresh 927 FM ‘ The Ones and Twos’. Sunday Nights 10PM- Midnight. • All Genres welcome and can be taught, - House, Techno, Electro, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Trap, RnB, Breaks etc • All formats available, - Vinyl, CD’s, USB, SD Card, Ethernet, Time code hardware/software (Eg Serato), Midi controllers • All equipment regularly serviced and in excellent working condition • The latest Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus and DJM900 Nexus Mixer • 2 x Technics 1210 Mk 5 G turntables • Use our Sennheiser HD 25 Headphones or BYO • High Quality studio monitor speakers for Foldback (and the option to play on our full sized club PA system once your confidence grows if you desire) • BYO equipment if you prefer • BYO music if you prefer • One on One training or bring a friend to share the cost • All sessions are recorded and students can take home recording to listen to after each lesson if they wish • Shave months or even years off of the time it takes you to become proficient at djing by using my experience to your benefit. Course outline / topics covered: • DJ Equipment explained • Audio Leads and Signal Flow • Parts Identification • Equipment handling • Basic music structure • Counting bars and predicting breaks (using only your ears) • Cueing and releasing • Evaluating tempo differences • Applying the pitch control • Counting BPM (Beats Per Minute) • Utilising the EQ • Smooth mixing/ Cut mixing • Mixing techniques and transitions • Programming your sets • Loops and effects • How to get the most from the software – Analyzing songs, Setting Cues etc (Rekordbox, Serato etc) • Tips for performing – Adrenaline control, Internal Dialogue, contingency planning • How to promote yourself and get some gigs! Turntablist (Scratch Djing) lessons and Ableton lessons available by special request only. All lessons are 1 -2 hour’s in duration and half-day sessions are also available if required. I am more than happy to tailor a course to suit you so don’t hesitate to message me to discuss further. Practice rooms and recording facilities also available for hire by prior arrangement (discounted rates for Sound Skills students) I can even come to you and teach you at your own home on your own equipment if you prefer!
