St Peter’s Girls’ School is a vibrant community of learners. Since 1894, our focus is, as it has always been to nurture the fine, individual characters of our girls through our caring and supportive community, our outstanding and diverse co-curricular program, award-winning teachers, exceptional facilities and an extensive network of Old Scholars. Our grounds are stunning – our classrooms provide views into the heritage-listed conservation park that surrounds our campus and is at once a science lab, art class, poetry lessons and outdoor education facility. Our academic results consistently place us in the top 10% of the Nation, and the option of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme has the potential to open global doors for our students. History At the request of the Anglican Bishop of Adelaide to establish a new girls’ school, the ‘Community of Sisters of the Church’ established St Peter’s Girls’ School in Kermode St, North Adelaide in 1894. The Sisters who opened the School were English women who had joined the Anglican Sisterhood founded in 1870 in London by Miss Emily Ayckbowm, and gave up everything they had ever known to travel across the globe. The School moved to Stonyfell in 1957. Today, the School with approximately 720 students is partly surrounded by a protected natural park and has attractive spacious grounds, allowing girls from Reception to Year 12 to interact on a single campus. The School also has a co-educational Early Learners’ Centre. In 2012, St Peter’s Girls became an International Baccalaureate World School with Authorization to teach both Primary Years and Diploma programmes. 2014 marks the celebration of St Peter’s Girls’ 120th anniversary. The values given to us by the Sisters have been our foundation throughout our 120 years – community, collaboration, service and, above all, the development of individual character and personal achievement.
