Hey there! Welcome to State of Mind Shop! State of Mind Shop was hatched from many fun discussions with my husband about our love for Kentucky and all of the cool things about it. I have been an artist all my life and after having children and running a business I only created works of art in my head (and in several sketch books). Hubby and I are dreamers. We couldn’t trade in our “real” jobs but we could trade in our boring office space. Instead of dark wood, cookie cutter furniture, with humdrum art work (boring) on walls, artificial plants and zombies following the daily grind, we packed up our offices and moved to an inspiring, renovated, 360,000 square foot home to over 200 artist studios, specialty stores, galleries, teaching studios, office spaces and more. Yet another cool thing about this wonderful city inside this kick ass state. So hubby is a foodie & self-proclaimed historian and launched www.thebestofkentucky.com where you can go to one place to get the best things crafted in Kentucky. The idea is to share with the world our excitement for the things of this state. You’d feel it when you read why we find it “The Best of Kentucky” and then be able to experience it for yourself by ordering it from the online store. So where did State of Mind come in? I wanted to capture some of these things on t-shirts. I wanted things that only Kentuckians would understand such as Benedictine and Hot Browns. It was a way to get the creative juices flowing and have fun with it. Each STATE OF MIND has a story behind it. The cool thing is that each person’s story is different. Each statement is tied to a different feeling or memory for each person who connects with it and wants one for themselves. Enjoy the shop, share the love and embrace the nostalgic feeling.
