Welcome to the second annual CAHOOTS Cabaret, hosted by the University of Alberta Drama Department! We are an interdisciplinary Fine Arts Series that showcases the work of current students at the University of Alberta. Our aim is to provide a welcoming and enthusiastic environment for students from all faculties to come and share their glorious talents, and perform them in front of a live audience. The CAHOOTS Cabaret is a fundraiser for the Drama Department Student Emergency Bursary Fund - all our proceeds go towards helping drama students who face unforeseen financial crises to continue with their studies and pursue their dreams! This festival is an opportunity to showcase something which you have been working on in class, on your own time, or even something that you've had in your back pocket for years, waiting to be shown (we're not talking pocket lint here, unless you can do something crazy, like build a dragon out of it. That's a lot of lint). We want you to be able to show something which you are passionate about in front of a live audience. It can be a scene or monologue, a class project, a staged reading of a new play, a movement or dance piece, clown turns, science experiments, a sick rap battle, drag routines, performance arts, visual art pieces, improv games, slam poetry - if you can show it on a stage, you can show it in the CAHOOTS Cabaret! This is a great way to put yourself out there, challenge yourself, and have an absolute BLAST! We love the creativity and imagination present here at the university, and if that manifests itself in you juggling fiery swords from your perch in a bedazzled saddle atop a golden stegosaurus, SO BE IT, WE WANT TO SEE IT!
