Description

The Co-Operation Café and the Colleen and Michael Brady Center for innovation a new kind of Community Incubator- We are looking to match our current funds to expand the program from day one and allow for other programs to start in March 2015. A few months ago a group of Entrepreneurs got together and created a group called the Co-OPeration whose mission was to teach business skills, software, hardware and design using opensource products to help create oppertunites for Veterans and youth at risk in our local area. We are opening our Cafe in March of 2015 in Kingston NY. Our mission is to create sustainable communities through support and training of our local veterans, entrepreneurs, indie artist and small businesses. We believe we can empower communities by building a foundation of cooperation and innovation through teaching entrepreneur skills, programing, tech skills and creating opportunities for new businesses to be created in our communities. Our Community Incubator will be called the” Colleen and Michael Brady Center for Innovation” after the Mentors who change my life and the lives of so many others. The café will be a place to network for community members, host events and mentorship programs while sipping some great coffee and locally made snacks! Everything Made in the Brady Center for innovation will be sold in the Co-Operation café. We have—and are still building—partnerships to bring in weekly groups and class. The cafe will help mentor, fund and train those in our incubator. Computers, 3D printers and other technology will be available for use by community members and incubator participants as the Cafe and incubator grows. The cafe will help local indie products, start-ups and local snack entrepreneurs sell their products. It will provide an incubator opportunity for those selected to learn and grow their business, tech and entrepreneurial skills. The location will work as a full service Café. In which goods created by indie product designers, local farmers, craft brewers and so on will be sold. Veterans will be able to use services for free or low cost. The Colleen and Michael Brady Center for innovation will also provide all the services of an incubator mentoring, tech skills, Business planning and training to community members—especially Veterans and at risk youths. The Center will host 10 entrepreneurs to start all of the products designed in the incubator will be sold in the café. The Cafe will provide a place for indie artists, local start-ups and others to sell their products. Those products made in the incubator and community center will help to teach hands-on entrepreneur skills and tech job training on a weekly and monthly basis. We have 15 national mentors signed up to help push those involved in our center and help with growth. Some of our services will be to work with other groups and chambers to help our incubator participants and cafes network to grow. It will serve to help #indie product designers, nonprofits and community members to create a positive and sustainable future through our location. 25% of all profits will go back to our local community in form of free tech-skills programs and mentoring opportunities with other organizations and community outreach groups.
