The Damsels Dance Company began with the vision to create Denver's first all-female contemporary dance company dedicated to raising money for women in crisis. The company has since evolved into a group of social causes-minded women and men whose passion for enriching their community drives their innovative art and storytelling. Since the founding of the company in 1998, the Damsels have raised not only money but public awareness about issues such as domestic violence, rape, capital punishment, homelessness, religion, homosexuality, racism and teen pregnancy. Most recently the company has decided to dedicate its proceeds to helping young female dancers afford to begin and continue their training.
