The Gathering exists to bring glory to God through lives changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The kind of life change we're talking about is conditioned by THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. Romans 1:16 ESV "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." The gospel is the power of God! People’s lives can be changed by a dramatic event, a tragic accident, a medical diagnosis, or an enticing culture. But the only kind of life change that allows a person to have a right relationship with God the Father is through the Word of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the Gospel of Mark, the very first words spoken by Jesus are these, from Mark 1:15 ESV, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” The very first words that fall from the lips of Jesus, according to Mark, have to do with the Gospel. Therefore, in The Gathering Church, the means by which we will pursue the glory of God in the making of disciples is The Gospel. Our ministry will be five-fold. These are the five things we will devote our time and energy to: 1. Gospel-centered preaching, 2. Gospel-centered worship, 3. Gospel-centered community, 4. Gospel-centered service, and 5. Gospel-centered multiplication. What is the Gospel? The gospel is the story of God reconciling and redeeming a broken creation and fallen creatures to Himself through the life, death, resurrection and future return of Jesus Christ. The Gathering exists to bring glory to God through lives changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
