Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are a simple and relaxing procedure that significantly lengthens and thickens your own natural lashes. After carefully assessing your face and eye shape and discussing your desired look, Certified Eyelash Extension Technician Elizabeth expertly and artfully applies a soft, synthetic eyelash to your own natural lash with a specially-formulated, non-damaging adhesive. You end up with a beautiful, full luscious and long set of lashes that are natural. You won't even know they are there. Elizabeth was involved in the optometric medical community for over 7 years. Starting as a clinic receptionist, and through continuing her education, she became a qualified dispensing optometric technical assistant. This knowledge and skill set allowed Elizabeth to not only assist in the selection and fitting of new eyeglasses, but also involved the testing of patients for ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as certain neurological visual field disorders. Elizabeth is also a contact lens educator. Eyelash extensions have been around since the late 1990s, and originated in Korea. Elizabeth’s interest in eyelash extensions started with a desire for an attractive and convenient option when travelling overseas in 2013. From the first time she wore them Elizabeth was instantly won over! Since that time, she researched all aspects of the industry, including safety, best practices, suppliers and education. Elizabeth chose to take extensive one-on-one training and became a Certified Eyelash Extension Technician in 2014. FALSE EYELASHES VS. EYELASH EXTENSIONS False eyelash strips, or small groups of false eyelashes that can be used for a single event, are not considered to be ‘eyelash extensions’. Not to be confused with the self-stick strip, drugstore falsies or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory, these semi-permanent, synthetic extensions are attached, one by one, onto the natural lash (not the skin) by using specially formulated, hypo-allergenic glue that last 2-4 weeks. Once you have had single eyelash extensions you will realize there is no comparison between the two applications. BENEFITS Thick, long lashes have long been the standard of beauty for women, who use everything from mascara, eyelash curlers, false lashes and serums to achieve the look. In-fills are recommended every 2-4 weeks to ensure a full look. HOW? The lash-extension procedure is soothing and painless. A full set of lashes can take between 90-120 minutes to apply, depending on the number of lashes applied. This is a true full set where every suitable (adult), visible lash is extended along the top lash line. Clients lay comfortably on a massage table with their eyes closed, and the lower lashes are covered with a soothing anti-wrinkle gel patch to keep the top lashes from sticking to the bottom ones. A synthetic eyelash is gently applied approximately 1mm from the base of each individual natural lash using non-formaldehyde glue made out of a medical grade bonding agent, so it is literally an extension of your eyelash. None of the synthetic fibers or adhesive actually touches your skin. This results in a very natural look, even if you choose the most dramatic, thickest set! PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT • Do not wear mascara to the appointment. • Do not use moisturizer or petroleum based products before application of eyelash extensions. • Do not curl the lashes, as this may hinder the eyelash extension application process. • Remove contact lenses. If you are wearing your contacts to the appointment, please bring your contact case to store them in during the procedure. • You must wait until the eye area is completely healed if you have an eye infection or recently undergone an eye operation or cosmetic surgery. • You are welcome to bring your iPod/MP3 Player to listen to during your lash application. AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT Eyelash extensions are easy to care for. The less you handle your extensions, the longer they’ll last. Follow these basic steps to prolong the life of your eyelash extensions: • Avoid getting your lashes wet within 24-48 hours after your application. • Do not use eyelash curlers, perm or tint. • Do not pick, pull or rub your eyelashes. • Use the eyelash brush provided to gently comb lashes. • Only use a water-based (oil free!) eye makeup remover. Oil-based products negatively affect the bonding agent. • When sleeping on your stomach or side, lashes should have no contact with the pillow. • If you experience any signs of irritation, please contact us as soon as possible.
