Giant Chinchillas, Flemish Giants & Red Satins . .. Quite the different rabbits - each breed unique in their own way. Flemish Giant are called the ‘Gentle Giants’. This breed is very affectionate, sweet and laid back. These rabbits are friendly, great with children, respond to their name and have the personality of the most gentle of dog breeds. The Giant Chinchillas are on the rare rabbit breed list. Not sure why that's so given they are such darlings. They take the Flemish Giant personality up to the power of 10! They are called 'big babies' by breeders as they are sooooo human friendly. They always come running up to you. You can almost hear them - 'Hi! Hi! Hi! Come see me! Hi!' The Satins are also a unique rabbit breed. They have fur that feels like silk and shines like gemstones in the sunshine! The Red Satins are simply breathtaking: Shiny dark orange with beautiful dark brown eyes. They are a very solid muscular breed. The average adult weighs 8.5 to 12 lbs with the Bucks normally weighing in slightly less than the does. The Satin Breed gets its name from the special fur that makes it unique from all other breeds. The Satin breed has a hair shaft of finer diameter than normal fur which gives it a delightful silky feel. The hair shell is filled with air bubbles, causing it to be translucent. Light passes through the hair shell, illuminating the pigment, reflecting light and giving the coat an amazing sheen.
