What is UCAS? The Uganda- Canadian Association of Saskatchewan (UCAS) is a non-profit community-based cultural organisation founded in 1990 and incorporated in 1991. It was established to support the socio-cultural, economical and full integration of Uganda- Canadians living in Saskatchewan. Vision To build a legacy of the Ugandan Canadians and, by effective and equitable integration, contribute to the development of Saskatchewan. Mandate: UCAS’s objectives are as follows; To promote better acquaintance, understanding, and cooperation among the diverse cultures of Uganda- Canadians and friends residing in Saskatchewan. To work towards the elimination of racism and all forms of discrimination within the Uganda-Canadian community and the community as a whole. To advocate for and promote equality, equity, integration and social justice in Saskatchewan, Canada and Uganda. To assist and support immigrants and others associated with UCAS in their adjustment and participation in the Saskatchewan community in particular, and in Canada in general; To preserve, promote and develop the culture of Uganda- Canadians in Saskatchewan thereby contributing to the multiculturalism in Canada “To establish and leave a legacy of the Uganda Canadian heritage, and by active and equitable integration, contribute to the development of Saskatchewan.”
