Our purpose is to create a sense of community and to enhance students’ university experience and career prospects within the finance discipline.

Description

The Finance Society has been established primarily to enable like-minded, ambitious students studying finance or finance related disciplines to advance themselves and subsequently impact the quality of the Finance Discipline at the University of Adelaide. The Society is striving towards the creation of a Praxis Investment Fund which will be run by students under the guidance of academic staff of the Discipline. The fund will; • offer students an environment where theories can be practically applied; • enhance the retention of concepts learnt through lectures; and • allow for zero risk academic experimentation within the markets through paper trading. The University of Adelaide is home to many world class academic staff and alumni. The Society wishes to use these connections to provide forums where these people can engage in discussion, share their knowledge and present their latest research to enthusiastic students. The Society will aim to provide students with useful insights into the competitive Finance domain through affiliations, sponsorships and networking opportunities with Industry members. This will create realistic employment avenues for students. Student members at last will have a University Society especially tailored to their needs. It will allow students to form connections that address their social and academic needs with the promise of addressing their future needs.
