Description

As one of Australia's leading music programs, in one of the world's leading universities, UWA Music creates the future leaders of the Arts community. We offer a range of specialist music programs, covering performance, composition, musicology and education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; in addition, all UWA students have the opportunity to include music in their undergraduate degrees. Our graduates have gone on to postgraduate study at national and international centres of music excellence; they perform in every major orchestra in Australia and as chamber musicians and soloists around the world; they inspire the next generation of musicians in classrooms across Australia and work in wide-range of arts organisations. Each year we present a vibrant program of concerts and events showcasing our young emerging artists, the finest musical talent locally, nationally and internationally. Welcome to the UWA, School of Music! In 2013 The University of Western Australian celebrated it’s Centenary and ranking as a World Top 100 university - the only University in WA to make the top-100 list, and one of only 4 in Australia. Part of the Faculty of Arts, the School of Music is a vibrant centre of music education and research with strong ties to the community through outreach programs, our junior music school, concerts and the Friends of the UWA School of Music. Staff are actively involved in teaching, community music education, performance, composition, and undertaking research. Our graduates have gone on to study at ANAM, Oxford, Yale, the Royal College of Music (London), Juilliard and beyond! Graduates enjoy successful careers in performance, composition, teaching and the Arts as well as in fields such as Medicine, Law, Engineering and Management.
