WARNING - BIG HOLIDAY PROBLEM AHEAD! Many guests have written about their problem with Wanggulay. We feel obliged to share this with you. It begins after settling into Wanggulay and enjoying our complimentary bottle of Verve Cliquot fine French champagne on the balcony perched in the tops of the rainforest. They then begin to relax on our day bed over looking the river below that cuts through the rainforest in the spectacular Barron Gorge. Guests often spend hours in our award winning warm pool with bubble jets and an infinity edge; and then; they stay! What we mean is they don't want to go anywhere! They often cancel their day tripping plans to spend more time in the surrounds of this magical place. Once guest best described the problem years ago ?It leaves a spell on you its Wanggulay Dreaming! ", she said. And now its become an epidemic! The kids are not immune either. We have a kid's guide, written by kids, that records all the great things to see and do. We give you a walking guide to the secretly located spectacular waterfalls just 10 minutes from the front door where you can enjoy pristine swimming in crystal clear fresh mountain water! General Info

The Barron River flows from the Tablelands to the Coral Sea as it cuts through the rainforest in the spectacular Barron Gorge. The river widens and the current slows amongst the rocky outcrops and small clearings. Perched on the hillside above the Barron River your luxurious rainforest home awaits you filled with exotic oriental Balinese furniture, Persian carpets and day beds for relaxing on the balconies, polished hardwoods and handsome statues.  Natural ochres, earth-colours and textures invite you into the main living area under a large timber cathedral ceiling. On this floor you will find the master bedroom with its own ensuite and spa bath. Bridgeway access from the master bedroom directly to the pool makes swimming an easy pleasure any time of the day. The second bedroom has its own bathroom and shower facilities on the same floor. The spacious open-plan living area with gourmet kitchen, extends outside to a wide verandah high above the forest floor in the treetops. Bi-fold doors slide back, allowing the large outdoor area to become part of the living space. On hot days, with the doors closed, the integrated air-conditioning keeps the house cool. On the floor below is another guest wing with a lounge/media room opening onto another 22 metre balcony providing separate reading and relaxing spaces for larger groups. The media room also has a pull out double sofa bed. and also can caters for young children with cots and high chairs at your request. Two bedrooms with king size beds that can be split as needed into singles, are also on this level. We find the most convenient configurations for our guests is to keep one as a king and the other as a twin and we can change this if required. The bathroom on this floor features an antique claw foot bath. For convenience there is a guest laundry located in the hallway. Of course you can take your 'living area' outside to the award winning infinity edge pool where an additional BBQ makes entertaining easy. Or contemplate the river on the meditation deck amongst the trees on the hillside below the house. The private pathway down to the river past the mediation and wedding platform connects Wanggulay to the Barron River gorge environment. Nearby, the Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage rainforests, the vibrant tropical beaches of Palm Cove and Yorkey’s Knob lined with coconut trees compliment the vibrant city of Cairns
