What is Digital Storytelling? Digital storytelling is a process used to tell personal stories in powerful, evocative ways. Following the model developed at the Center for Digital Storytelling in Berkeley CA, each workshop begins with a story circle where each participant shares their story idea. The participant then writes and records their script, and selects media such as images, sounds, and music to create a 3 to 4 minute video. No special computer or video skills are required; the process is facilitated by trained consultants. The creation and sharing of these stories, whether public or private, empowers positive change for people, communities, and organizations. The essence of digital storytelling is not technology, or even the final product; it is a technique for deep listening, reflective practice, and social change.
