Description

Westside Montessori School (WMS) provides Preschool and Kindergarten students with exceptional hands-on experiences full of exploration and discovery. WMS has been part of the Vancouver west side community since 1986. Limited class sizes, varied learning techniques and integrating the best educational approaches makes WMS a different kind of school. WMS has 80 students amongst the four classes. Children develop at an individual pace that is tailored to his or her own strengths, challenges and interests, while interacting with both younger and older peers. The three-year program meets the needs of children in their foundational period and guides each child in all areas of growth: academic, emotional, physical and social. WMS adheres to the unique educational philosophy set out a century ago by Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori philosophy aims to develop the child's innate desire to learn by using a child's natural curiosity and love of knowledge. The child is able to learn and acquire an 'inner discipline' free of the need for external reinforcements.
