Description
The club was formed by A.J. Musgrove, first principal of the Winnipeg School of Art, and director of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. It is one of the oldest fine art institutions in Canada. It has had many well-know artists as members e.g., Leo Mol, Franz Johnston, Charles Comfort, Lemoine Fitzgerald.

To celebrate the club's centennial, in 2014, an open competition, The Winnipeg Portrait Prize, is being planned with a prize of $1000. Any artist (Canadian residents) can enter but subjects must be of people who are contributing to community, must be sketched/ painted from life, and, at entry, reasons for subject choice need to be provided.Company Rating
